Pricing guide
Mailchimp pricing, explained
Mailchimp sells four marketing plans. The price of every paid plan rises with your contact tier, and the plan sets how many emails you can send each month relative to that tier.

TL;DR
Mailchimp plans and prices
Entry prices at the smallest tier each plan lists, as shown on the official pricing page on Oct 2, 2026. Pricing basis: Contact tier, with a monthly send cap per plan.

What you'll actually pay
Mailchimp prices by list size. To compare it with volume-based pricing, each row assumes 4 emails per subscriber per month. The Lumail column is the cheapest Lumail plan for that many emails.
| List size | Essentials | Standard | Premium | Lumail |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500 contacts (2,000 emails) | $13 | $20 | $350 | $0 (Free) |
| 2,500 contacts (10,000 emails) | $45 | $60 | $350 | $20 (Premium) |
| 10,000 contacts (40,000 emails) | $110 | $135 | $350 | $20 (Premium) |
| 50,000 contacts (200,000 emails) | $385 | $450 | $815 | $116 (Premium) |
Mailchimp list prices per month for the contact tier that contains each size (1,501–2,500, 5,001–10,000 and 40,001–50,000). The promotional price was half of these for the first 12 months.
Cost per 1,000 emails
Benchmark: a list of 10,000 subscribers receiving 4 emails a month, so 40,000 emails. Cost per 1,000 emails is the monthly price divided by 40.
| Plan | Monthly | Per 1,000 emails | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mailchimp Essentials | $110 | $2.75 | — |
| Mailchimp Standard | $135 | $3.38 | — |
| Lumail Premium | $20 | $0.50 | Unlimited subscribers |
- Mailchimp charges by list size. Sending more often lowers its cost per email; sending less often raises it.
- Lumail charges by email volume with unlimited subscribers: Premium is $20/month for 40,000 emails ($0.50 per 1,000), then $0.60 per 1,000. Business is $200/month for 400,000 emails ($0.50 per 1,000), then $0.40 per 1,000.
- Prices are list prices on monthly billing unless the table says otherwise, before taxes, promotions and add-ons.
Hidden costs and gotchas
- The 50% discount lasts 12 months. After that the plan renews at the full list price shown in this guide.
- Overages apply on paid plans when you exceed the contact or monthly send limit of your tier.
- On the Free plan, sending pauses when you exceed 250 contacts or 500 sends a month.
- The send cap is a multiple of your contact tier, so frequent senders can outgrow Essentials before their list grows.
- Annual billing is not self-serve: Mailchimp lists annual plans only for Standard and Premium at 10,000+ contacts, through sales.
- On the Free plan, custom-coded templates can be created but sending them requires an upgrade.
